IDA DERBESSE

1st violin

Born into a family of musicians, Ida Derbesse started playing the violin at the age of five. She studied at the Haute École de Musique de Genève with Prof. Sergey Ostrovsky and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Prof. Krzysztof Śmietana. In 2018 Ida was chosen to be part of the new Academy of Orchestre de Paris for the 2018/2019 season.

Winner of the AIMS Concerto Competition and the Swiss Concours d’Interpretation musicale, Ida was also a finalist at the International Ysaÿe Music Competition 2018 and prizewinner of the International Johannes Brahms Competition with the Trio Aralia. As a chamber musician, she has performed all around Europe at festivals such as the Festival International de Piano de la Roque d’Anthéron, Guildhall Chamber Festival, Schubertiades sur la Coline, Classical2016, AIMSFestival and at Wigmore Hall (UK), Barbican Hall (UK), Salle Cortot (France). She also often performs as a soloist with various orchestras including Orchestre Colonne and Via Luce. 

Ida plays a 1810 Nicolas Lupot violin, on generous loan by Altmayer Fine Violins.
